As one of America’s most favorite sports, golf is becoming more popular than ever. However, like any other sport, golf can produce lower back pain. In fact, lower back pain is one of the most common conditions golfers suffer from. If you love to hit the greens but are experiencing back pain, here is your guide to help reduce your chances of injury.
How to Play Golf with Back Pain
Before teeing off, it’s essential to warm up properly. Try gently swinging your golf club to loosen up the necessary muscle groups. In addition, be sure to stretch your shoulders, torso, hips, and hamstring muscles.
Wearing a back brace will provide your spine with support while limiting the motion of your lower back. You can find several back brace options at almost all pharmacies.
The golf swing can cause a tremendous amount of stress to the lumbar spine. To help golfers avoid injury, modification of the swing may be necessary. Modifications typically include shorter back swings, increased hand action, and a relaxed posture.
Although carrying a golf bag is good exercise, it may lead to muscle strain. We recommend using dual bag straps to evenly divide the weight. Furthermore, use a bag stand to eliminate the need to bend over.
